Pastor’s Corner (3/12/2020)

 In Pastor's Corner

Each week we produce a newsletter, we have a staff meeting with myself, Mark Miller, and Kelly Tyrrell. This is a time that we come to consensus on projects, update one another with our progress, and encourage each other to maintain our good work. One thing we do each week is take turns opening with a devotion. This week, the devotion shared by Mark Miller was so touching, that I wanted to share it with the whole congregation. This reading comes from Grace Church Cathedral in Charleston, South Carolina.

True Lenten Disciplines

Fast from judging other;

Feast on Christ dwelling in them.

Fast from fear of illness;

Feast on the healing power of God.

Fast from words that pollute;

Feast on speech that purifies.

Fast from discontent;

Feast on gratitude.

Fast from anger;

Feast on patience.

Fast from pessimism;

Feast on optimism.

Fast from negatives;

Feast on alternatives.

Fast from bitterness;

Feast on forgiveness.

Fast from self-concern;

Feast on compassion.

Fast from suspicion;

Feast on truth.

Fast from gossip;

Feast on purposeful silence.

Fast from problems that overwhelm;

Feast on prayer that sustains.

Fast from worry;

Feast on faith.

May you keep this close to you and read through these suggestions when you are feeling tempted or led astray this Lenten season.

With a positive heart,

Pastor Karen
